Have you recently wondered where you could go on a 2-3 days vacation to relax and enjoy the views?

I have the answer – Italy.

Recently I traveled to Italy, to Milan, and the city left me, indeed, speechless. We visited Milan, the lake Como and Bergamo. I would like to tell you about my experience and give you some tips that will make your trip a 10 out of 10.

Milan is a beautiful city, full of fashion and very well rated stores. If you want a shopping vacation Milan is your place. However, I didn’t want a shopping vacation and yet i really really liked the city. You have a lot of tourist attractions that you can see:

  • Duomo – the principal attraction of Milan. You can sit, have a coffee and admire the Duomo from the Duomo Square. I guarantee the experience is a 10 out of 10 experience and so are the photos. You have to wake up early if you want great photos because all day long the Duomo Square is full of tourists and your photos might be a little too “crowded”.

This last photo is made from above. You can enter the Duomo and see it from the inside and you can also go up to the roof. You have two options: take the elevator or climb the stairs (i recommend the elevator unless you are a great sportsman). The views are incredible and the cathedral from inside will take your breath away. The price of the ticket is approx. 35 euro.

  • Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. This gallery is impressive. The architecture inside is amazing and the shops here are wonderful facade. There are also restaurants where you can eat inside. I felt like part of a movie inside this gallery, a movie about fashion and luxury.

  • Parque Sempione and Castillo Sforzesco – a place full of color. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center you can go to this park. It is a very big park behind the Castle. You can sit, admire the view, listen to the birds and take a good moment to relax. The park and the castle are very close to the Duomo (15 minutes on foot).

  • Navigli – a neighborhood that will definitely transport you to the city of Venice. It is a lively neighborhood, with many bars and restaurants and lovely views. I really liked this neighborhood and I would come back anytime.

Tip: go at sunset, the view is enchanting.

  • If you are a fan of Formula 1 or a fan of good cars you can visit the Ferrari Flagship Store Milano. The store is very big and you can see a lot of things related to Formula 1 (photos, helmets, racing wheels…). I liked very much the shop because I am a fan of Formula 1. The staff is very nice and and the store itself is an experience not to be missed.

As for the food and sweets I have a few recommandations:

  • Spontini Pizza
  • Piz Pizza (try the Margherita)
  • Spun Tiramissu
  • Ciacco Ice Cream (try the strawberrie and pistachio)
  • ODStore. Astore full of sweets. Here you can find the famous “Biscoff” and many more.

Tip: on the second floor of the store (ODStore) you can find pizza slices for one euro. The pizza was delicious.

Now that we have seen all Milan we can move on and visit Lake Como (Lago di Como).

We took the train from Milano Centrale (the train station) to Lago di Como. The ticket was approx. 6 euros. You can buy it from “Omio”. The route lasts approx. 45 minutes and you will pass by Monza and other stations. The trains from Milano to Lake Como are full and if you are lucky you can sit. We weren’t lucky so we had to stand the whole route, but i assure you the Lake Como is worth any sacrifice. The Lake was my favorite in all the trip. Is a very peaceful place, full of color, flowers, trees, villas and bars. You can also admire the view from above by taking the funicular, but there is always a queue. If you are patient you cand wait and experience the funicular. We weren’t so patient. We preferred to admire the lake from below, without standing in line. I recommend you to visit as much Villas as you can because they are beautiful. We visited “Villa Olmo”.

As for the food we ate a very good panini at “Panini Buono”. You will se the restaurant because
because it is on the way from the train station to the lake.

Our trip to Italy lasted 3 days. You can visit much more in 3 days if you plan your vacation well in advance.

I spent around 160 euros for these 3 days. You have to consider also the subway subscription, 15 euros for three days, the cost of the road from Milan to the airport and from the airport to Milan, around 30 euros. And it depends how many times a day you eat and how greedy you are.

I hope you will consider this city as your next trip!

If you need any advice or if you have any kind of questions i am here for you.
